I don't buy into this nonsense, yes I could live in another country but the main reason I am here is because of my family. I am an honest hard working englishman that hasn't got half of what the foreigners get given when they move here so for that reason I am rightly bitter!
Even lazy english people sitting on benefits are a disgrace so hardly much to be proud about.I played sunday league football today.
Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!Comment

This England
"This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England."
William Shakespeare, "King Richard II", Act 2 scene 1Comment

Jerusalem is too religiousy for my tastes. And it uses the word 'builded' which is just stupid.
Theme tune from The Archers for me. Quintessentially English, and nothing more uplifting.

Not proud of being English per se, that had nothing to do with me, but feel very fortunate to have been born here, considering all the other places I could have been born.
Imagine being born an Australian? *shudders* Doesn't bear thinking about....

That is very true. An epic movie could be made about England's rich history through every decade from 61AD, right the way through following two thousand years, give or take a year or two, right up to World War 2.
Unfortunately, it's been downhill all the way since, but happy St.George's day one and all.

Plenty to be proud of both historical and present - had the biggest empire the world has ever seen, as much as we knock it - NHS makes me proud and of course home the QPRI don't buy into this nonsense, yes I could live in another country but the main reason I am here is because of my family.
