If anyone can seriously and honestly list just 5 great games our 'Captain' played last season, I might reconsider.

like him or loathe him i doubt he will come back , only here for the money so what , so are the rest of them . barton has had a right touch the wages he's on , but he would of added some bite to the team the bloke looks like he wants to win. not one of our midfielders has been up for it this season maybe he would have got in there ear and got the best out of them who knows .if harry were to bring him back then he deserves a clean slate as we will need battlers in the championship to many on here think we are certs to come straight back up , not with this team we wont

Why are some of the fans so deparate to get him back when he even said he didn't want to return? If we force him, he will become another mercenary. We should only have players who are eager to play for the club, not just for money!

Well I was at 4 of those games last year and I wouldn't call his performance 'great' in any of them !
Certainly wasn't MotM in any of those 4 games (not sure about Stoke away - Helguson ?)

I thought his best came was at Wolves and that ebded in controversy too !

I think it is testament to how monumentally ****e our midfield has been this season that some people think Barton is the answer to our problems.....

I was at those game too and deffo one of our best players in those games especially Arsenal & Stoke away also very good against Spurs H and Wolves A better than what we have M'bia not as good as joey football wise

Although a lot of our players have disgraced our club this season on the pitch(football wise) nobody has to the extent that JB has, he made a mockery of our club and his behaviour at Man City last season topped it off. What some forget is that game at City we needed to get something and his sending off could of put us down if things elsewhere had not gone in our favour.He was a low life before he came to us and still is.

this is 100% true and also , most of last season he was absolute dog sh it e , remember the setplays?? .

Barton's not a great footballer, but he's certainly not ****. OK he had an abismal game against Liverpool, but that was 1 game. Do people think M'bia has been great every game? Has Derry been great every game? Park, Jeanas, Granero..... The list goes on. They've all had shocking performances this season, so Bartons poor show against Liverpool is no different.

Part of Barton's game is he never let's the opposition settle. He runs non stop, chases down lost causes, he actually IMO improves the rest of the team as he sets a higher standard, and players I think see him as a captain therefore up their game as a result of his. To me he is what a captain should be. Constantly vocal constantly trying to improve the rest of the team. Yes he has major down falls, and is somewhat limited skill wise, but he's a damn sight better than some of the absolute **** we have at present, and part of our downfall this year for me, is no leader out there from the off orchestrating things.

Just my opinion, and sure others will disagree, but I think we've missed him massively
