In fairness, as he said on Twitter, he didn't label his own price. We, as a club, decided to pay it.

Personally, barring the last 2 games, think he has been pretty solid. Wins everything in the air & is strong as an ox. Thought he would have scored by now - I back the farker in a scorecast every bl00dy week :strive:

He will be off as soon as the transfer window opens anyway. We will recoup most of, if not all, of the money we paid for him - we aren't going to just swallow a big loss when we don't need to, he is on a long old contract with us. And before somebody says "who the hell will pay that for him", soon after we bought him we had a big bid for him from Russia - one of them mega rich clubs will love him.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

He is slow. Needs pace alongside him which he hasn't got.

His old club said our offer to him was "madness". He is being paid the salary of a player 3x his level. The transfer fee is not his problem he doesn't set that. He is just a big old unit. Can't play the ball, slow and just has a physical presence. As for corners and free kicks - he has had tons right at him and done nowt with any of them.

Not going to comment on price tag except to say, desperate times desperate measures.

What people are not noticing and why he is not scoring is teams are doubling up on him, can’t get a run in and blocked off. However it is freeing other players up except that rest of team other than Hill are poor in the air and even then who the hell knows where Taarabts balls are going to go. Yesterday, not one of our players in 6 yard box at corner and he puts it there straight into keepers hands. The number of wasted opportunities is unacceptable, it only makes me wonder what happens at the training ground that is different.

If the club are not going to sell on and he wants to stay and a deal can be sorted out, keep him, we will need him next year.

No need to force him out, he would be colossal for us next year.

Struggled bit last couple of games but always saw him as a monster when he played for Blackburn and was surprised he didn't go to one of the bigger clubs. Has proven himself over a number of years at this level. Get him the right partner and easily good enough. Would like him to stay but would be very surprised if he did.

obviously overpriced but aren't they all?
we needed a big unit at the back and if he goes, we'll get most of the dough back,
don't see it as a problem

I find your comment laughable. Villa's keeper pulled off world class saves against Samba. Seriously...

Samba has not got a prayer with our supporters as he is judged by the fee and wages not by performances. Fulham aside he has done ok and go back to before we got him how many times did the opposition get free headers in the penalty box. He is being doubled and sometime trebled up when we have set piece's, I was in the lower loft yesterday and heard someone spouting dross about Remy being pony so why is it not suprising Big Chris is taking a caining.

he would have been a good buy from Blackburn for 5/6M.

i can't work out why we went after him so hard??? surely there are younger/better CBs out there for the money?? puzzling...

for his wages/price though he has to go down as one of the worst transfers of recent years

but if he stays he'll beast the championship next season

and picking up no one , a good CB marshalls his defence

Sorry, saying he is a "brilliant" player is ridiculous. He is a decent player. But has no pace and can't play the ball. He is a decent defender who gets a few headers in the net. He is OK. That is all. And to say he doesn't score because players double up on him is rubbish - that happens to any goal threat and doesn't stop the "brilliant" ones from scoring.

I am glad we signed him as he is decent and we needed to replace Nelson. But we paid too much and his wages are ridiculous for an OK player. We need more pace at the back.
