If we beat Wigan next week and Villa lose their game, it will be 4 points with 6 games left.

And Villa are away to Stoke who still aren't safe themselves and are always strong at home.

Sunderland are away to Chelsea too.

So it's certainly far from over.

Would one of the "positive brigade" kindly explain the logic in thinking that this pathetic bunch, along with their vastly overrated manager, can make up the points gap.

Failure to beat West Ham away, down to being too defensive.

Failure to beat Norwich at home, down to playing without a fit striker.

Conceding 3 goals per game against such potent attacking threats such as Villa and Fulham.

Minimum of 8 points given away in those games alone. The games where it mattered. The 8 points which would see the bookies showing us odds on for survival.

Very, very poor management, tactics and performances. The usual failure to deliver when required.

Easily the worst two consecutive seasons I have witnessed in over 40 years.

Of course it is possible to get the points required, but this lot haven't a hope.

If you look at all the other games teams around us there's load of six pointers twists and turns yet. On this forum everyone has accepted relegation, I have not!!

Had Redknapp selected Bothroyd to partner Remy, or even Mackie in the games aganst West Ham and Norwich QPR would have had a better chance of winning those and those 4 points would have made a huge difference.
Also, if QPR had defended better in the last two games QPR would have picked up a minimum of 2 draws.
This set of results would paint a much brighter picture, however those games are done and dusted with.

It is not impossible to win 4 of the remaining fixtures (although not really likely given how the seasn has gone for QPR), but even then QPR are still likely to need to draw one or two as well.

Just to give myself a better understanding of the task ahead, I attempted the BBC predictor and put in 3 wins 3draws for QPR, plus a number of defeats for Norwich, Wigan, Sunderland and Villa, and they still got relegated.

It's stating the bleeding obvious but for QPR to win games, the defence will need to defend much better than they have been doing of late and Remy, Zamora and others will need to keep scoring - they've had huge problems with both these areas all season and the chances of them both coming good at the same time are not really likely.

I resigned myself to relegation after the Norwich game, which for me was a great chance to build on the Chelsea win and draws with Spurs West Ham and Man City. The defeat at Swansea that followed all but confirmed it for me.

When QPR got relegated to the 3rd tier in 2001, QPR won back to back wins under Gerry Francis and fans' hopes of an escape were raised, but then came crashing down after a 5-0 loss at Preston (I think). He resigned and Holloway took over and QPR lost nearly all of the remaining 13 fixtures.

The remaining fixtures now, are just as winnable as those of 2001 were, but I am not going to raise my hopes of survival again.

Don't often agree with w12ranger, but he is spot on.

We will win 1-2 games maximum.

Defence will be shaky after last night and that in itself will mean we will concede loads more. Harry has done well, but he aint no miracle worker.

Forever the optimist, though won't get that feeling again until we start next season in The Championship

Everyone will all have their point of realization during a relegation season. Mine was losing to Villa and many people were earlier than that, some it was last night.

How anyone now can really think we will stay up is beyond me.

It is nothing to do with being positive or negative or a better, more supportive fan at this stage. It would have been negative to say we are doomed after 5 games. With so few left it is just stating an opinion based on the evidence around you.

The performance at Newcastle was extremely negative but I guess that Redknapp was looking for draws in December until he could bring in his players. He almost got away with it.
The West Brom game he can point to lousy decisions. Most refs would have given a foul against Fortune for the 2nd goal and most assistants would have seen the Ridgewell handball (and many have done so this season before and after that one).

There is no excuse for the Liverpool shocker.
