The Villa result effectively saw us relegated IMHO. No point winning all our remaining games if other teams can win theirs - we have to stop them getting points when we can and we failed.

Mathematically down is just confirmation of what most people can already see.

i felt the board had to sack hughes back in october, after the 3-2 loss at wba...i go back as far as that, morale was low, team under performing, no away wins in a year....
harry has done well but didn't have time to work imo...villa effectively sealed it.

Yep Villa pretty well sealed it. The term "six pointer" is over-used, but that really was one and we lost it from a position of total dominance. If we had won three in a row - or even won two and drawn one - few wd have bet against us. We wd have gone into the Fulham match with real swagger rather than as nervous wrecks. But Villa was such a choker I think even v optimistic fans (and I am one of them most of the time) then thought "OK, I accept the inevitable now." The sadness is that our team now, when it performs, can live with the majority of teams in this division but rarely can a team have performed as patchily as we are at the moment.

The place will be dead on sunday from the off as 99% of people will go with zero expectation especially if results on saturday go against us
