  • New signing Magri.

QPR have signed before transfer deadline in August this kid Magri from Portsmouth. I have been told that Magri is of a Maltese origin as his grandfather was a Maltese. That reminded me how actually I became a Rangers supporter. It was back to the sixtees when I barely started my teenage years, when my uncle explained to me that a lot of Maltese young men serving with the British forces, use to go to Loftus Road to support QPR. The reason was a Maltese player named Joe Cini. He was very popular in Malta in those days and QPR wanted to keep him for good, but he was homesick and returned home after one season. The then manager Alec Stock (subject to correction) came to the island and tried to persuade him to continue his career in England, without success. That's how I actually became a fervent QPR supporter.
I am sure some over fifty supporters remember Joe Cini very well and I will be glad to read some posting on this subject.

It was Joe (or Joseph?) Cini for sure. He was Footballer of the year in Malta in his prime. He also played for Malta against England in 1969 or 70, not sure....and he nearly scored but Gordon Banks saved his shot when one on one. England won the game 1-0 in the old sandy Empire Stadium.

I love hearing storys like this, just makes me smile (gay)
                          Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                          And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Makes me wonder how far Magri is from starting a match for us. Was he outstanding in the defence when he played for Portsmouth last year?
