JCS injured now there’s. a thing we need to be so much better than when we went there last season we were awful , let the crowd get to us as well, should have a bit of confidence after Leicester certain players have to be in the team ND at left back wouldn’t devote far from what we had Saturday only one I’d leave out is Varane he’s been awful last month or so, he’s so negative sideways backwards and caught on the ball far too often trying to do too much, would go for Hayden of Field instead, let hope the team have the right attitude

Disagree varane was great 1st half against Leicester , protected the back for and was everywhere .... Not so noticeable in the second as the game was over and we didn't really go at them . Funny how we see can see things differently.Originally posted by dave58 View PostJCS injured now there’s. a thing we need to be so much better than when we went there last season we were awful , let the crowd get to us as well, should have a bit of confidence after Leicester certain players have to be in the team ND at left back wouldn’t devote far from what we had Saturday only one I’d leave out is Varane he’s been awful last month or so, he’s so negative sideways backwards and caught on the ball far too often trying to do too much, would go for Hayden of Field instead, let hope the team have the right attitude

Varane does have a tendency to take one touch too many. This could be a problem against an energetic "in your face" team like Portsmouth. Trouble is, I'm not sure Hayden or Field are fully dialled-in or up to speed cos they're not getting minutes. Probably best to stick with Varane cos he does bring energy and movement to the table and he breaks up the opposition's play well. Leave the team unchanged as far as possible would be my approach.

Portsmouth will be looking to push away from the bottom 3, with an urgency driven by a resurgent Norwich. This would normally be a game that would give me the frights, particularly following a result that should make us outright favourites. In the past we could just as easily flop after such a sterling performance. However, I do not believe that this will be the case: I feel we now have a great team spirit and a more solid team, and believe that we will have too much for them. We should come away with the points as long as we remember that we will not get any of them just by turning up: hard work from whistle to whistle again and we'll be alright.
0-2 Rangers.

It's a BIG game. We can either establish ourselves as being credible promotion candidates or melt into being one of a dozen or so hopefuls for promotion. I think this is the easiest Championship there's been in ages to escape from - ball's in our court: go out there and seize the day or revert to being small minded also-rans that make excuses for being mediocre. I think we will step up to the plate and blow them away. 1-4 to us.

Harvey Blair makes his first start of the season in this afternoon’s Boxing Day contest with QPR at Fratton Park. He replaces the injured Josh Murphy in one of two changes from the side that drew at Derby before Christmas. Zak Swanson missed that game because of illness and makes an instant return, as Jordan Williams drops to the bench.
Pompey: Schmid; Devlin, Matthews, Poole, Swanson; Dozzell, Kosznovszky; Lang, Chaplin, Blair; Bishop (c)
Subs: Bursik, Williams, Bowat, Pack, Swift, Minhyeok, Segečić, Umeh, Kirk
