As much as Smyth offers us with his pace in behind, he lets himself down with his final ball and lacks composure when finishing.
I really hoped we’d get another forward player in before Saturday so Smyth could give us an impact off the bench, but it’s looking like he will start now? Probably with Andersen and Kolli, behind Cellar up front.
As has been said we look ok defensively, with a good keeper, solid back four and 2 of Field/Colback/Varane holding. It’s just the creativity and goals we lack. Where will they come from?
I don’t think the Baggies will offer as much offensively either, so it could turn into a proper bore fest.
Let’s hope we can nick an early goal of any goal for that matter and just try to hang onto it! Not ideal, but the board and manager must realise that without Chair and no real replacement in yet for Willock, we lack any real threat and will be starved of goals this season again.

0-0 is a safe bet.
I think we will start with the same formation (4-2-3-1) and the same team as against Brighton, but with Kolli as left winger instead of Lloyd.
If Marti makes changes, it will be one of three:
1. He will try to accommodate both Celar and Frey, due to the limited quality of our winger options (Kolli, Lloyd, Smyth, Santos). If so, he might play Frey on top, Celar to the left, Andersen in the number ten role and Smyth to the right. But I do not think he will - it will be just one striker on the field from the start.
2. Another option, now that Varane has finally arrived, is to push Field further up field and play Field behind Celar, with Andersen and Smyth on either wing, and Varane and Colback in the center.
3. A third option is to use EDB in the number ten role and play Andersen and Smyth either side, with Colback and Field in the middle
However, I think he will go for the tried and tested in a league opener, with the same line up as against Brighton, expect for the Lloyd/Kolli change.
With our attacking shortcomings, that won't be solved before the closing stages of the transfer window, I will be happy with a 0-0 draw. If we win this with the present state of our attacking options, I will be over the moon. I have no idea what we will do if we suddenly trail and have to go on the offensive. If WBA goes into defensive mood, to protect a lead, I think we are almost weaponless - I can only see us scoring from set pieces. But in Marti we trust!

I've been holding out and waiting and finally today NowTV offered me £19.99 per month for their Sports Pass with that rate holding for 12 months. Get in! I was fearful I'd have to sign up for that £25.99 for 6 months deal they're publicising at the mo'.
I should add I've been a Now customer for years but I NEVER pay full whack and I always cancel my passes when there's nowt to watch. I think they realise they will only hook me in with significant discounts.
