Sometimes it just as important to win ugly and tonight was that night ! After Saturday we needed that.

True. Thing is, I don't believe we set out to make games dour and attritional- we just get embroiled in them by diabolical opponents who actually DO set out to play nihilistic unadventurous anti-football. Long drive home to their stinking mill town cess pit to reflect on losing ugly.Originally posted by Kit View PostSometimes it just as important to win ugly and tonight was that night ! I'll be honest, I was fearing a Bristol City-type sucker punch when it was still 0-0 nearing the end so it was most enjoyable to see us get the job done wasn't it!?

I think Amit's Newcastle connection is a bit of a kick up the #### regarding what he thinks of them. Tbh I hope we don't sign Newcastle reserves because they're blo ody awfulI played sunday league football today.
Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Love beating teams like them and Preston.Originally posted by dave58 View PostDire 1st half what a horrible team they are, spoilers didn't look like they came to win the game, loads of niggly bookings and time wasting whole of 2nd half, they got what they deserved nothing, we deserved that ugly win,

Great to win an ugly game and get a clean sheet to boot.
A great goal from Chair.
Adomah should be our wing back if the aim is to have an attacking outlet on the wing with an occasional bit of defending, because he does the former better than either Odebajo or Kakay.
Dykes was unlucky not to have a goal and an assist (Willock should have scored from the header to him).
Also, we should have had a penalty in the 1st half.
I was disappointed with Warburton’s post match comments re: the possibility of selling Chair in January. I think if we are in the top 6 we should resist any offers for our best players (unless a big fee and a loan back is included). We should be aiming for a chance to win promotion with this squad of players, not selling them.

Agree with you on all that but of a club comes in and offers 20 million for chair then he will be sold. I'd be more concerned that we let dykes go for a lower fee. Wouldn't surprise me if we sold him for 10 million and recalled bonne to cover it. Dykes is irreplaceable for us this season. No one else can do the job he does for us.Originally posted by stanistheman View PostGreat to win an ugly game and get a clean sheet to boot.

Am a massive fan of Chair but not sure he has the physicality for the Premiership. If you look at top flight players now they are all giants, and really hard in the tackle and can compete in the air. Chair can't do any of that. We could be OK because as our CEO said in an interview, that middle market of players going to Championship clubs for significant money has completely died, and I'm not convinced any of our players are quite Premiership level yet (Willock could get there). Dykes is doing really well but Ivan Toney scored 31 goals in the Championship, Dykes is a long way off that level still.
