On the other hand, its such a shame most clubs can't invest too heavily in trying to go deep in these cup comps - I get how important league position is but it's a bit sad.

I guess giving young fringe players match day experience has more potential financial value to us than the occasional glamor tie? I'm sure Eze cut his teeth in these competitions before becoming a first team regular. But yeah, that's financial rather than a fan's buzz from a cup run.
