Folk are right about him needing a run out in the team. Given the scrap we're in I'm not sure he'll get that chance should we sign a midfielder. I really hope he can do a job for us. He's a cut above your average footballer. Apparently he's doing a masters in psychology and is widely read, which makes a change from listening to sychronated grunting to a loud bass beat on oversized headphones.....

He can be very very good, but hasn't had a great game from beginning to end other than Spurs away or Chelsea home and away.

He plays better against teams that back off him, but I think he's still really struggling to get used to the pace and intensity of the game over here.

He's a brilliant footballer, just needs time and games to adapt and find his confidence.

It is not going to be easier for him to adapt and find his confidence with fans constantly on his back.
Now that Anton is gone it seems Granero is the new one.

People who think Granero is a poor player need to consider how many shots on goal we would have had without him yesterday.

the one he blasted into the upper loft last night he never should of taken. he places his free kicks and you cant place a free kick from 30 yards. adel goes for power so he should take everything in shooting distance from 22 yards plus granero should stick to free kicks on the edge of the area

problem is no we've Deadball specialist and Adels conversion rate from free kicks is poor in relation to the amount he takes also.

because of how slow he is he ends up grabbing opposing players as they start to get away from him.....done it loads of times last night and i was worried he would end up with a red card.

Not defensively he wasn't. Certainly not in terms of providing midfield muscle. Nice pass to Adel, though.

I disagree. defensively he was superb. I thought Mbia actually was a weak link, and this showed against class opposition. I am not saying Mbia was rubbish, just a lower level than the rest. Again though, we need to remember the role each player is asked to do. With Mbia and Derry in the midfield 3, Granero has to take risks, try to manoeuvre the opposition around and sometimes that means holding onto it, dribbling a bit more, waiting for the right run. Of course he lost it sometimes, as did all players, and that was sometimes his fault, but as I have said earlier that may also be because nobody is showing up for the pass.

Yes because that was Mbia's job as one of the two holding midfielders, with Granero ahead of him. He provided the defense-splitting ball to Remy in the 1st half too as well as the one to Adel. Granted he conceded possession a few times but over the 90mins his ball retention was better than Mbia's.

True. I think the Swansea ball boy retained possession longer than Mbia. He did a good job providing muscle on our project, though. I want Granero to prove you and Stedders right. Seriously.

He had a nightmare first half. I would have been better. Improved second, which is always good.
I was disappointed he didn't see Remys run end of second half.

yet he was miles our wosre player, id have hooked him at halftime as he was having a nightmare!
