Can't help but think that the club should stand firm on this one. Him leaving could have a huge impact on us staying up. Him and Hill have looked solid in the last few weeks. we now have a settled defence. Ferdinand is our only other out and out centre half and he fills me with no confidence. We desperately need 2 centre backs and we have to hope to God that Redknapp has got someone or two who are better lined up. Really hacked off by this and Nelsen despite his career ambitions is really taking the ****. This is our future at stake.
      Agree.

Agree! As much as I'm pleased with him coming to TFC, I really think he should have seen out the contract he signed with QPR and those two quotes make him look like a quitter, not up for the fight!

Not at all happy with the way Nelsen has jumped ship, no pun intended.
When I come to remember Ryan Nelsen in years to come, it's this moment that will stand out for me.
If I was anyone of importance at Queen's Park Rangers, I'd make the Kiwi **** see out his contract.

That is exactly what he is, and what he is doing, a quitter, quitting.

I find the whole thing bizarre. Especially the fact that it was announced in Toronto. There have been hardly any reports about it in London. Toronto seemed to think it was all sorted before, but then found out that they were wrong.

What questions was he asked to elicit those response gator?
The second quote (about a bit of trouble) could be read differently, in that because QPR want him to stay for the fight could mean he may not be able to take up the post on 1st Feb?? Maybe I'm just trying to see something in it that's not there. He has never struck me as a quitter.

I think that last quote could be interpreted as saying that QPR need more than just him to stay up - and if it is, he has a point.
He is not someone that should have been relied in so much. As stated, he was signed as back up not 1st choice.
QPR need a younger version of him but they also need another striker as well as midfielders who can create and score goals. As for making him see out his contract - he can retire from playing anytime he wants to. He could get injured against City and say he doesn't feel able to continue playing.

See what you mean "bit of trouble" could mean that he might not be able to leave on 1 February.

Another way of looking at this could be that Nelsens body can't cope anymore!!
He has said how he fights through the pain barrier with every game now, and maybe doesn't want Harry to name him in 25 for last part of season if he feels that his body will let him down.
Nelsen has done his job this season for us, and if plays last game v Man City he will give it his all to keep the defence tight

If his body can't cope, why did he play in the Olympics which was more strenuous than the pre-season with us and why did he fly back several times to New Zealand to play for the national team. He could have agreed to stay until the end of the season and maybe not play so much. I still do not understand why he is going to a team who are not very good, with fans who don't really seem to want him, rather than stay with us until the end of season with fans who appreciate him.

Sorry for the late response mate, I just caught the tail end of the presser and those quotes were from another Canadian soccer blog, I'll link the interview with Ryan Nelsen from Toronto FC's site!
