45 of the 46 were well defended. Our midfield failed to stop such crosses because our not having the ball meant that West Ham had it and could produce.... 46 crosses. Harry knows what's wrong. He said so in plain words after the game: we need to keep the ball and play. He'll bring in players to do that.

Fu*king freezing? I was out shovelling snow for about an hour today. With the windchill, it was minus 38.Originally posted by Hitman34 View Postshyte game, was ****ing freezing, keeper was class, defence was rock solid, midfield was shyte, remy took his goal well but was unable to make an impact in the second half due to the shyte we had in midfield.'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. Sorry to be pedantic but cajones is Spanish for drawers. The word is cojones that I believe you are looking for. So anybody that has the initials C O and he surname Jones, your credit card looks quite embarrassing in Spain!Originally posted by Gipper View Postcahonas. Think you mean cajones ???. Good point Paul we did loose our threat of the counter attack once he moved out wide so was an odd decision. Im guessing the plan was to put him wide and put the ball down the channel for him to chase but we never had the ball to spring the trap so I myself if taking Mackie off would have put Hoillet there and kept it as it wasOriginally posted by paulmason View PostIf we set up like we did v Spurs in the second half, they would not have had half the crosses. Putting Remy on the right was suicidal and thats where the majority of them cam from in the 2nd half. Play him up front or don't play him at all.

Im sure they will look at the game again and see what they did wrong with Remy...was his debut and the guy might as well be deaf at the moment cos his english is pretty lame - wouldn't have heard anything much from the touchline even if they had tried to change his position.Originally posted by paulmason View PostIf we set up like we did v Spurs in the second half, they would not have had half the crosses. Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

You could be right, but the plan was also to retain possession when we won the ball back far far better than we did, which Harry pointed out in the press conf. There weren't enough calm heads to put their foot on the ball and pass to a fellow player, instead of panicking and hoofing it straight back to them, which is what we kept doing with the exception of the 1st 20 mins of the game. Their equaliser was an inevitability, even with world-class MOM Cesar, and Harry knows that too. I also think perhaps he rues subbing Adel because at least he was an outlet who is strong, confident and talented enough to hold up the ball, hang on to it, then bring others in to play. At least in Remy it seems we now have a striker good enough to be on Adel's wavelength, making the runs from his passes that no previous striker had the vision to make.Originally posted by fisnik View PostI wonder if that was the plan. Let them get in and around our box and then maybe get hold of the second ball and catch them on the break.

We got deeper and deeper and I think it stemmed from Cesar getting the ball forward too quick.
I get it that we wanted to hit them on the break, and it worked for our goal, but it creates a big problem when we lose possession because our defence hasn't got up the pitch far enough. It then sets a pattern, and we we're consistantly caught too deep.
Full backs are supposed to stop the crosses, and I thought Onouha and Fabio had poor games, Fabio especially. I watched the game again this morning, and he's a ball watcher almost in the Anton mode. And we are really going to miss Nelson when he goes, closes down shots so fast, best defender we have.
I think we should play a more compressed formation to keep the game tighter, especially while we still have Nelson who has the pace to cover for Clint. There's too much space between Remy and Tarbs and the rest of the midfield.
