Redknapp ready to make move for Distin

Harry Redknapp is set to offer Everton’s Sylvain Distin a two-year deal in a bid to solve QPR’s defensive crisis.

The French centre-half, 35, has less than six months remaining on his current contract and with the Goodison Park club reluctant to offer him a new deal, Redknapp is ready to pounce for a player he managed during his time at Portsmouth.

Redknapp has also targeted Tottenham’s Michael Dawson, but with the England international now likely to remain at White Hart Lane the QPR manager is prepared to match Distin’s £50,000-a-week salary in an attempt to lure him to Loftus Road.

The club are also apparently interested in centre-back Sylvain Distin but he will, according to the Daily Mail, turn them and Sunderland down to stay with Everton.

Would be a great signing for the rest of this season but 2 year deal?! We're like a retirement home.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

50k a week for a 35 year old. Will we ever learn?

all very well to attack the club - but a) if we don't get anyone, fans will be moaning (rightly) that we were already crying out for a centre half and now we've lost nelsen and b) how many top defenders who will really improve us want to come to arguably the smallest club in the prem league, bottom of the table and facing relegation in the face? If it was so easy I wd love to know who fans would propose to sign and how much they would be prepared to pay them...

You do realise this hasn't actually happened? And it's a dodgy rumour from a notoriously poor rumour website.

Ferdinand must be on the same sort of wedge? would rather give it to someone who can defend?

He may be 35 but he is performing brilliantly this season ala Nelsen for us. Distan is a top player and imo at the time was actually better than Lescott who they shipped for £24m then got Distan for about £4m i think... brilliant business.

Great defender. Is not slow either and if were we to sign one more OAP, he would be one worth signing. But don't see him coming to us at all

Players at a certain 30's age always want the two year deal, so if it makes the difference between staying up or not, and we can't be choosers of who we can attract, then do it.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

Distin on loan until end of season fits all of that...
