QPR manager Harry Redknapp. Picture: PA Wire
Redknapp blasts ‘average’ QPR high earners after Newcastle defeat

By Tom Moore, at St James’ Park
        Saturday, December 22, 2012
        5:49 PM

QPR manager Harry Redknapp lambasted ‘average’ players earning far too much money.

The R’s are in the relegation zone after picking up just 10 points from 18 games and it appears that the 65-year-old has run out of patience with a few individuals.

He said: “There are an awful lot of players at this club who earn far too much money for what they are.

“Far far too much money for what they are. Not all of them but an awful lot of them. I don’t want to see the owners have their pants taken down.

“There are a lot of average players here. I fined a player last week and he was earning more than anyone at Tottenham.

“They’ve got a stadium that holds 18,000 people and you shouldn’t paying massive wages when you have 18,000 people.

“This club [Newcastle] holds 55,000 people and I bet their players aren’t earning as much as some of ours.”

        --------------------------------------------------------------------------

        About time somebody said it.

That´s why a good few of the players got their last chance tonight(IMO)
I,e.I read somewhere that Cisse did get a chance to play against Fulham, only if he promised Harry to work hard.:pleasantsuprise:

Thanks for puttting this up, ArticHoop.

            Stating the blindingly obvious tbf.

Did he say what the reasons for the changes today were?

How refreshing to hear that. But unfortunately for us and Arry, these are the players we've got. With all our pathetic players on big money, surely we will end up like Portsmouth if we go down..

Well said but what is the answer to the problem short of shipping them all out and preparing for the Championship?

Brilliantly refreshing to see a manager be honest about the state of club.

That's all well and good, but how are you going to a) shift them when they're rubbish and on big money, b) sign better players on less money when there's big earners at the club?

That doesnt matter. The point is it what he said needed saying. His hands are tied until January so he just has to get what he can out of the current crop until then.

I never want to see Bosingwa wear a QPR shirt again. If he does then I hope he gets boo'd!! We MUST sell the monobrow!!!!

Not a knock against him, just frustrated that the board have got us in the same position we were in at Championship level. If anyone can get us out of this it's Harry, at least he's had the sense to play down how much we're going to spend in order to try and nab some bargains. Think he'll want to get shot of Granero and Bosingwa at the first opportunity. If we can shift Granero that will potentially free up 5-6 million for him to play with. Bosingwa will be considerably more difficult to move though.
