  • QPR go head-to-head with Chelsea for £10million France star Loic Remy (Metro)

Redknapp is currently in the process of drawing up his shortlist of targets ahead of the opening of the transfer window in the new year, and a quality striker is his main priority.
The 56-year-old has already been warned off top target Jermain Defoe, while he is yet to warm to the idea of bringing in Aston Villa outcast Darren Bent.
According to French daily L'Equipe, Redknapp wants Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes to dig deep and help finance a move for France international Remy, who has fallen out of favour at Marseille.

Might not be that far fetched though, if a £10 million bid would be accepted we would just have to convince Remy to join.
A good run up to end of jan would see us in quite a good position.
If he is a success for us he would have a lot of clubs sniffing round in the summer.
If Chelsea get Falcao then Remy would be 3rd choice.
Mbia could convince him to join, and maybe a deal would be struck with Barton going permanently in the other way

That would push the price up to £12m..!

That's why the article is a load of tosh.
QPR might be willing to spend some more money, because let's face it, the rewards for staying up are worth a further gamble, but Remy choosing QPR over Chelsea or any other better placed side is not one that Remy is likely to take.

Fernandes has already said we won't be spending much in January, so the notion we are going to spend £10m on one player is ridiculous IMO.

Remy is probably not even on the radar for Chelsea, Falcao will be there number 1 target and then maybe Suarez. A huge bid for Suarez would probably be accepted by Liverpool.
Remy could join us, with maybe a release clause in his contract if anyone came sniffing around in the summer.
Would certainly make a name for himself to score a hatful of goals that keeps us up, and shows what he can do in the best league in the world!!

                            But is that true ?
Clubs will see that we are desperate when the window opens for a striker, and the statement of saying only £10million is available we wouldn't be held to ransom by other clubs if a £10million bid was too good to turn down. Then along comes Transfer Deadline Day, With Harry leaning out if his car window saying no more deals then suddenly an extra £15 million is spent on some great deals

some of the names being linked with us are ridiculous. Remy, Defoe... I saw i think on 'not 606' yesterday one chap even talking about Negredo and Llorente. Delusional. About the highest profile player who might come to us would be someone like Crouch, but then i cannot see why Stoke would sell him and he seems to be enjoying his football up there regardless. I think some people need a reality check
