So we ARE bidding for Beckford-brilliant-surely he would rather live in West London than Bolton-and he knows that Premiership football with Rangers is a cert if can just score 20+ goals for us...

If true, then what was the f.ing point waiting until 3 games into the season..... He's scored a few goals already, but it's nothing we didn't know already - he's a goal scorer..... much like it's no surprise we've been firing blanks.

They should have bid before the season started so, if succesful, he would have settled pre season, not come in mid season and then taken more time to adjust and settle into the team etc..... Not to mention, now some average prem clubs now think they need more after their starts so have come into play, Bolton for one, i'm sure Hull will also get involved. THey probabaly wouldn't have bothered a month ago, but now as they can ofer silly money we probably won't get a look in, unless the owners have finally cottoned onto the fact we need to start speculating if we're to have any chance of promotion, so could offer MASSIVE incentives with high goal bonuses and and total bonuses, pay off if we secure promotion etc.... things like that may help capture him if he thinks we have serious chance to go up, while he likes of the teams mentioned have a serious chance to come down.

Another factor is he may be well advised to not run before he can walk, ie step up to the CCC first and then the prem, hopefully via his goals getting us promoted, rather thna jump to a poor prem club, get restricted games, and even less chances. Miss a few and then everyone writes you off before you really get started.....

But hey, as we all know, money talks loudest...!!

Any one of a number of reasons...

a) JM gave the players a chance and they have been found wanting.

b) Leeds were playing hardball before realising they won't get the amount they want and don't want F.A. for him next year.

c) We tried for other players (those known and unknown) and are now looking at him seriously.

Who knows the reason. Let's be happy we're trying for him and hope it comes off.

Point is whatever bid from us is half hearted because we are constantly trying to do things on the cheap. When Beckford goes somewhere else and we struggle this season because we can't score goals, the response from the club will be that they did bid for strikers but lost out to premiership clubs etc etc.

This is going to be a very hard season for us.
