How I'd love it (just love it) if Bernstein ordered Roy never to select him after the San Marino match to leave him tantalisingly close to the '100 Club'.... Or injury meant he never made it..... Odious creature of the very lowest order no matter how good he is and England have a ready made replacement in Leighton Baines.....

Seems a bit petty, by far the best left back I can remember England producing, only other that comes close in my lifetime is Stuart Pearce.

Yeah, Cashley is a bit of an idiot but he's just indicative of the modern English footballer. Overpaid, Egotistical and not very bright. As I say, he is definitely not on his own there, I think 90% of the footballers in this country these days fit that mould!

Cole, regardless of what he's like as a person, is by far and away our best LB and probably will be beyond the next WC, so how would it be good to dismiss selecting him exactlly??

As for Baines, he's decent, but not in the same league imo. Cole is arguably the best LB in the world and has been for years. not many FB's hold their own against Ronaldo in a 90 min contest and he's done it repetedly when they faced each other.... Would Baines... no chance.

I don't like Cole, but for any England Manager to ignore him would be doing the country and injustice. If forced to not select him by the the suits at the FA, then it would prove there are far bigger things to worry about with the state of our national FA.

If Baines were a better player at this point in time you may have a point but Cole is still the better player or if Baines were say 23 then maybe but in a few weeks Baines will be 28 or put another way he will be over 30 should we qualify for the next world cup so in truth its probably better looking at Gibbs or maybe even Bertrand as Coles replacement.

As for takig a penalty Cole seems to do pretty well when taking them in play penalty shoot outs.

I think he will continue as will probably become our most capped outfield player of all time..... not a bad thing to have on your CV.

Pains me to say it but he's the best English LB I've ever seen. Horrible bloke but a ridiculously good footballer.

He'll get his 100 caps and rightfully so.

Agree with you mate. He's still got another 2 tournaments in him at LB I think. Unless Bertand, Baines or Gibbs make a massive step up.

He'll have the record for sure.
