    On another day...

... Julio saves the two soft shots at his near post, Jaaskelinen lets in one of our 8 shots on target, West Ham lose a player to two bookings, we win, We all love Allah.

Unfortunately it all went against us from the first few minutes last night. Such a hammer blow conceding so early. It set us up for the rest of the 1st half and gave them hope.

Thats football. We were unlucky to lose - Wet Spam were holding on towards the end.

Lets look forward to a positive performance and a result against WBA.

    Just my two penneth.. :strive:

OP - we were outplayed and more importantly tactically out-thought by a fathead with 2 brain cells

Have to say anyone who thinks we were unlucky to lose that game over 90 mins needs their head examined

Well that would be one way of looking at it..........another would be as follows:

We were tactically naive and badly disorganised from the first minute. We conceded 2 very soft goals and were limited to very speculative efforts that barring something spectacular (i.e. Taarabts goal), were never going to test a keeper of Jaaskelainen calibre.

I'm all for positive thinking..... so well done for that but our performance was tactically inept and if we had managed to get something out of the game if may well have papered over some pretty awful cracks........

It was an even game, and the result could have gone either way, and the stats back this up. A fair result would have been 1-1 or 2-2.

We were unlucky, is my opinion, despite other posters thinking differently.

Sorry but he made several good saves. He was tested.
We were out-thought I agree but the OP is right in that we could easily have had a point from it.

Their goal - soft as it was - and after only 3 mins - did change the contest. But that's. in part, down to Allardyce doing his homework properly and knowing that Hill can be roasted as a full back when he's up against pace. Who of us didn't see that when the team sheets were announced and thought "That's an accident waiting to happen?"

For arguments sake here are the stats :

                        0 1st Half Goals 2
                        7 Shots on Target 5
                        4 Shots off Target 6
                        2 Blocked Shots 7
                        4 Corners 13
                        10 Fouls 22
                        1 Offsides 1
                        1 Yellow Cards 8
                        1 Red Cards 0
                        72.8 Passing Success 73.5
                        18 Tackles 21
                        94.4 Tackles Success 85.7
                        50.3 Possession 49.7
                        42.1 Territorial Advantage 57.9
                        353 Total Passes 336
                        21 Total Crosses 35
                        191 Lost Balls 190
                        50 Recoveries 64
                        52.2 1st Half Poss. 47.8
                        50.3 2nd Half Poss. 49.7

Other than the final score and the sending off - it wasnt particularly the mother of all beatings, slash yer wrists performance that some of you are bleating on about.

As I said above, they were hanging on in the last 15 - when we were down to 10 men.

The Stats and overall performance show that we were somewhat unlucky to lose - given Hughes' alleged tactial ineptitude and being out-thought by fat sam.

Im with Tony. Keep him on board - our luck will turn.

                        Cheers all

We were outfought throughout the entire game, and what's slightly alarming, given that Sam Allardyce manages West Ham, we were outplayed at times.
Not good, not good at all.
