  • The Carling Cup was VERY important

I am sick of hearing it was only the Carling Cup. MH has already said we won't be in a relegation dogfight this year, so we can't say we should think of being knocked out as a blessing in disguise. And let's face it, no one is expecting us to qualify for Europe. So exactly what real excitement do we the fans have this season? It's the Cups. The FA Cup will always be tough, but the Carling Cup is the one where teams like us have a real chance. And we blew it. Against Reading. It is simply not on. We have been to no finals since the 86 Milk Cup, so with the squad we now have, I bloody well expect us to start doing something in these competitions.

It looks like most the Prem Sides are taking the competition seriously this year though.
Not happy that we went out, But would rather go out now and concentrate on league than get to QF's or Semis and then go out.

The most important thing is that we stay in the Prem, Will be worried if we dont beat West Ham and dont pick up any points against West Brom or Everton.

Its all good playing well against Chelsea/Tottenham but we need to be winning games against the others in the League

But Sparky promised us that we will not have a relegation dogfight this year, so surely we should not be worrying about concentrating on the league if we're going to end mid-table anyway. Better to end a few places lower in the league and go far in the cup imho.

Hughes said that for effect. Chances are we will end up fighting relegation most ofnthe season. So far we're 5 games in and we haven't been higher than 3rd bottom!!!
