Sheffield Wednesday's on-loan striker Jay Bothroyd has hit back at criticism from fans following Saturday's defeat to Bolton Wanderers.

Bothroyd was taken off to a chorus of jeers at Hillsborough as the Owls slumped to their fourth consecutive defeat of the season.

"Boo all you want I didn't get any chances I was up top alone," he tweeted. "And I hobbled off cause I got injured!"

Bothroyd is currently on loan from Queens Park Rangers until January.
