on 19thseptember aged 65 years of age when i met tony at the mike keen funeral he was a very intellegant man and had some really interesting ideas about soccer
I dont think we ever really gave tony any credit for having much skill,we used to call him shovel hazell because of his insistance in crashing the ball out of the stadium,indeed many of the residents in ellerslie road thought he had a personel grudge against them,or that he was going into the roofing buisness.
but i remember that amazing goal against forest at home in the 68-69 season,and yes we actually won the game 2-1 so that was another bonus
but it was only talking to tony that i found out that he was actually a center half.i always thought of tony as a right back,but tony assured me that no it wasnt true he adopted the right back role because we had ron hunt
