So we set up to counter them rather than set up so they have to change. Hope we have a squad flexible enough to cope with all the formations we will be up against this season. Should see some unusual line-ups.

Hughes deploying 'poor tactics'. I've heard it all now. Suppose we'd better get back to that tactical mastermind Warnock eh?

i agree with you about swp for mackie but zamora carryining a knock and not 100% fit. yes he was on the bench but at 3-0 down was not worth risking him.

anyway, you commented about my view on the formation. what would you have done regarding formations?

my view was, 4-3-3 we would have been blitzed by dyr and routlege, 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 we would have been blitz through the middle with their 3 cms. my opinion was the same as what hughes picked and a lot of us on this site said the same before kickoff.

what let us down was a lack of effort and the lack of ability from the keeper.

swapping one player would not have made a difference today but if bobby z was 100% fit then yeah, maybe we might have got a couple of goals from his lay offs. still would have lost though.

agreed. not hughes fault at all. the players need to have a long hard look at themselves after that preformance.

I thought Makie did Ok, although isolated I thing Cisse could have showed more, he always put himself in position to recieve Worldy balls which are not always possible, he should have come short, held up play and allowed JH, AD, JM, SD to get beyond him then spin in behind, that said he was not the reason we shipped 5 but his hold up play could have been better. Nevermind, at least we have the squad to bounce back
                Kept the faith!
