New posters should be limited to how many posts they can make per day, this will increase as their reputation grows. Will also stop all these new wallies clogging up the board with sh*t.

We've tried that in the past Jane, but the problem is people in offices or at home often share a single IP address so you'd end up banning completely innocent users.

That doesn't happen too often but on those occasions yes we can.

I know that it might be a bit of a drag.....but also once a foolham **** has been identified and banned.....would it be possible to actually delete the numerous meaningless threads that he/she has started?

Our front page looks a right pigs ear at the moment...

If not possible to delete, a graveyard section of the forum where all meaningless threads get sent to.

I've locked a couple of them so they'll soon move off the front page. Deleting whole threads is usually a last resort as some people like to see a record of their posts. A new graveyard-thread section may not be a bad idea though

One problem we face is the fact that we have "open" registrations. Anybody can sign up with this method and although designed in order to create less work for admin, particularly when we may be getting some interesting new members from overseas, it is open to abuse.

What I would suggest is that all "normal" members should use the PM facility to report any genuine incidents like these, but give us time to act unless in extreme cases, as we always need a certain amount of people to agree to a ban. Let's see if this approach helps to resolve these types of problem.

If I may, could I also ask that members pay a little more respect to certain rules in return. Those who I refer to should be aware of who they are and the rules that they continuously flout.

Thanks for your concern Matty. And thank you to W12 for highlighting the problem initially, despite the fact that a polite PM may have been a better approach.
Very good post however not entirely true as I have seen Kirill banning people on the spot, so discussions doesn't really relate to all mods. Only saying what I see mate.
