Nelson has been a top performer in the PRem for years, and a club captain, not to mention captain of his country..... You can't catagorise DJ, Betty and Hulse in the same regard.

I would put him more in Derry, Mackie, Hill category. Signing underwhelmed people but plays massive part in season. He was class above most others in game tonight. Looked strong, good leader and very solid defender. Controls the other defenders well. I think he will play 30 plus games for us and be top signing.

Even if we don't bring in another CB (and I hope we do), there's no guarantee Ferdinand or Hill will be 1st choice. But Onouha & Nelson might be ?

I think he will be captain and be our 1st choice CB. Providing he can keep himself injury free I would expect him to start all our games and partner whoever comes in.

amazes me the number of fans who dont see what a good defender ferdinand is. like rio, he needs to play alongside a vidic or - dare i say? - terry. as things stand ferdinand and nelsen are head and shoulders our leading centre back partnership.
