wouldn't be a huge surprise... hughes doesn't seem to rate young and he's on a biggish wage, so it's an obvious conclusion. none of the other names a massive surprise, i know i'll get slated but the only one i'd consider keeping would be betty - good cover for zamora (dj is too injury prone).

It also depends on where Hughes plans to play Nedum Onouha. If he sees him as a centre back he'll probably keep Young as cover for Fabio. If he sees Ned as a right back then it's bye bye Luke I'm afraid.

Luke is a steady defender, he doesnt make headlines but does a job, he's ok going forwards, but he is often out of position which has lead to us conceding goals, not a big loss IMO, he's 33 as well now I believe, so it will be good to ship him out

I think Fabio is also a right back but plays LB because his brother is the better of the two. Kind of like Gary and Phil Neville

There is a bit of chatter that i heard the other day that suggested that Hughes was looking at bringing in Carl Jenkinson from Arsenal, not saying as a direct replacement, but he is liked and he can play all across the back four, his preferred position is right back, and now this story brakes, you never know?

Dont get me wrong I know Young isnt the best defender in the world and Id have Nedum (not guna try type his surname!) over him all day long, but I do quite like Young as a squad player, think he's pretty steady and would do a job if he ahd to fill in. Not guna lose too much sleep if Hughes decides hes surpluss to requirements though, Im sure he knows what he's doing!

We've been linked heavily with simpson on a free and also with fabio so wd have thought one of the two will come in. we already have onouha and at left back we will hopefully have the Dutch kid (or an other) plus traore and hill who can play there. we already have in the centre anton, nelson and hill for three places (with Onouha also able to cover there) and hopefully another top quality centre half coming in. Given that we have a bit of versatility at the back think that wd be more than enough defensively. Bit harsh on Young as he hasnt done a lot wrong, was considered a star signing a year ago and was on fire up at Stoke last season but if we want to continually improve the squad, so be it.

I think Young is a great player in general, but tended to make mistakes in costly positions. I think he is a great squad player at least, but we are obviously lookin into getting someone in who is better, so cant complain!

I think Young has been a steady performer and is capable of scoring a few goals each season. However, but if Hughes can get a faster, better right back in, I have no issues over selling Young he is 33 and on fairly big wages.

Young is a good back up player, I should believe.
