He's quoted as saying in the Italian press he got more space against the Germans than against England, and the Germans were very poor at the back.

England weren't set up properly to play Italy, I feared the worst when Rooney was picked again despite clearly being way out of form, bad call by Roy. They are better than us man for man, but with a bit of nous we could have had a result.

Obviously we don't look after the ball, but it is worth reminding people that the self appointed Special One helped dismantle Barcelona at Inter with great defence, shrewd tactics and not worrying about posession. That game was a tactical watershed imo. But you really need to be on the money to play like that.
