You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

But the goalscorer was in an offside position when the through ball to Iniesta was made? I don't get it either personally...

Because when the ball was passed to Iniesta Navas was offside however he was behind Iniesta when He passed
The ball and you can't be offside if you are behind the passer of the ball

Well I'm gutted, we should have had a pen and there was a handball as well as an offside in the build up to their goal. Proud of my team tough and we will fight another day.

                        I was thinking this earlier

I'm sure the rule is you must have two players level or behind you when receiving a FORWARD pass?
Normally one of those two is the keeper and obviously only applies if your run starts over the halfway line.
Key thing is if it says forward pass in the rule and I can't be bothered to look it up.

I'm using old style offside terminology and even that's confusing so is it any wonder refs and links make a pigs ear of it with the major confusion FIFA introduced with phases of play etc
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

I think the point is that the guy who scores is offside when the ball is played through and then scores in the same phase of play as no croat player was involved for them to be able to call it a second phase of play. It's all one move and the guy is offside.

Navas was in an offside position when Fabregas passed to Iniesta. Therefore how was Navas NOT interfering with play?

Exactly but I guess it's better we got knocked out like that then to draw 0-0 and get eliminated by some new crazy UEFA rules about which games actually count. Anyway I'm now used to these shitty decisions thanks to QPR and the shitty refs in the English game.
