anti-climax imo. thought france looked very dangerous forwards, awful at the back. england mediocre throughout.

France were largely restricted to outside the box efforts, I wouldn't say England were lucky. I would say that was the best England performance I've seen in a tournament for years, they were committed, they closed down, they had a template, and they didn't look like shipping goals. Full marks to Roy Hodgson. Posession is still a worry, and there is still a tendency to sit too deep, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Massive improvement. 4-4-1-1 works well for England (always thought it would suit current Rs too) its just amazing that its taken so long for someone to suss that out.
