At 25 then it's an even more attractive signing! He might take a few games to settle but if he played week in week out he'd be very good and he's also very creative and think someone like cisse would thrive of his through balls!

Have to say I like this player as well. A real grafter. On the few occasions I have seen him on telly, he has impressed me. (Doesnt mean a lot though, lol.)

Not entirely sure, his form seems pretty inconsistent. If we can get him on the cheap though by all means.

What I like about Ireland is that he provides a lot of momentum going forwards rather than passing square, or constantly trying Hollywood balls like Barton. A perfect foil to Ali.

          Sign him up!

I agree, been very inconsistent while at Villa and his loan spell at Newcastle.

However, under Hughes he was very good.

That would be a good signing.

so have we gone cold on diakite?? ireland was decent enough but lost the plot....fancied himself more of a celebrity than a footballer.... mrs had a pink range rover including wheels and he got an audi sports in man u red and had to change it after getting slaughtered at the citeh training ground...withdrew from an ireland squad to attend his (already dead and buried) nans funeral... as eccentric as he is quality...

every bit of your post is right mate but he's always big news here in the emerald isle and from what i hearing he has toned right down on all that kind of lifestyle. really has got back into his football and wants to play for ireland again. think he could be back on track and if he is we would be getting a top player.

would be very happy if we signed him, breaks forwards so well with his runs which are hard to pick up for the opposition, something we have lacked from midfield for a while now.

Villa getting a new boss might go against us.

Would love him in the hoops
