Anyone doubting we need a striker...

just need watch the coventry ipswich match on at the moment. coventry are such an average team, however, clinton morrison (incidentally a striker who we could have got for a LOT cheaper than HH) has scored two excellent predatory goals. he's not an all-round great player, probably won't score 20 goals in a season but you bet he'll score A LOT more than our best goal-scorer will.

    goals win matches

we have no one who can score goals

As they just said, he scored 2 in his last 18 games before today.

newark you're missing the point. this isn't about morrison. its about what a goalscorer does and we simply don't have one in the team.

i certainly didnt rate blackstock but he is 100% better goalscorer than the rest of our forwards.

                I'm not missing the point.

                Morrison's scored twice today.
Helguson scored twice away at Blackpool last year.

Doesn't make either of them the mystical '20 goal a season' striker.

he won't. i'm extremely convinced we won't buy a striker, at the very best we'll get in a young premiership loanee which in my opinion is a waste of everyone's time.

how difficult is it to see that all of helguson, vine and agymang are more providers than scorers in our squad?!??!?!?!!

we went 23 games last season without scoring!!!!!!!!!!

                  the logic is actually painful

newark you are. im not advocating getting morrison (who though i do think would have been marginally better than HH).

we need someone who scores goals on a regular basis - striker's goals - just like morrison did today.

All of our strikers have scored those type of goals.
Just not often enough. We're all agreed on that.
Neither has Morrison. That's the point that I'm not missing, but maybe you are.

it was merely an example of how important it is that your strikers score opportunities

none of our strikers did that yesterday, and rarely did last year

i think (i hope) we agree we need a striker

                          Yep.

But my point is Morrison isn't it.

morrison is not what we need at all. we already have enough average championship strikers who score a brace every now and then ... we need a proper striker, 'fox in the box' type. i cannot believe HH is actually still playing, it is depressing. wasnt at the match but it just sounds like same old story with him.

for the record - this thread is not about clinton morrisson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i agree he is a distinctly average striker.

                              end.
