Hughes: Dyer ‘working exceptionally hard’ to return

Mark Hughes says Kieron Dyer is “working exceptionally hard” to try to rescue his career.

“At the moment it’s difficult to know when he’s going to come back and at what level, but he’s working exceptionally hard and we wish him well.

If he gets anywhere near the level of performance we know he’s capable of, then he’s an outstanding player that we could hopefully add to the group.” - 20.03.12

That's just it, if we get the true Kieron Dyer back and fit he would be a first team regular, we forget just how good he is because of his injuries.

feel more re-assured after reading that - sounds more like we are letting him train with us to see if he can regain fitness but maybe I'm wrong and its a formalised year contract. Bit of a mystery.

Didn't he get injured earlier than the 7th minute against Bolton? I thought it was more like 3-4 minutes.

If he can remain fit, he is a decent player. However, that is a very big if considering he has managed just 31 appearances out of a possible 190 in the last five seasons. 21 of those were in two seasons, so that is 10 from the other three - an average of 3.3 games.

That's got to be a waste of money and space in the 25 man squad.

As I tweeted yesterday, he will probably injure his eyeballs when looking at the new contract and whereto sign it.....waste of physio time and resources
