Just watched the new BBC football league programme and have changed my opinion on Beckford. Both his finishes were very good especially the first, I have had my doubts that he could make the step up but I am now more of an opinion that he could. However, he is being touted for big money whereas I think we could get Simeone Jackson for a snip and he looks like he has a very bright future ahead of him. I was impressed with the little I saw of him last season but his finishing yesterday was excellent.

£2.5-4m is a big gamble on a player from the lower league and I was not convinced he could make the step up but we need something and Beckford's finishes yesterday have begun to sway me towards thinking he could do it in the CCC. With Jackson it would be more of a gamble but one that would have relatively little outlay but the payback could be immense.RIP: Doug, Sniffer and PatComment

If we had a decent striker Blackpool would have been killed off in the first 20 mins yesterday with the chances we had. Until we do this season is going to be the same as last, hope the other team don't score hope we nick one or it's another 0-0.
A player like Beckford would score you goals and put another thousand or so on the gates so you would be getting your money back.We ain't going anywhere with the one's up front at moment.Comment

Beckford is a no-go as for a start Ken Bates wouldnt do business with us full stop.
Secondly even if he was willing to do business with us, he would want £4m hard cash upfront....

Of course Bates would do business with us and has many times in the past.
Our goal shy strikers are consistently poor. Really can't see why Blackstock should be sold and not replaced, even more so given the poor performance of the remaining strikers since January.
Don't think Beckford is the answer though....Comment
