Not always the manager's job these days.

If a player wants to leave, or leave unless they get a new, fat contract do they tell their manager face to face - no, they get their agent to do it, often by phoning the CEO. The manager is just left to get on with it.

I'll never forget that player of the year do out at Heathrow when he rounded up all his little gang and took them up into town for a night out, rather than staying with all the fans who had witnessed a season of rubbish and forked out 70 quid for the do.
