    Best players missing

Ashamed of the performance today but think it just goes to show why strength in depth is so important in this division. Without quality players throughout the squad and many players of championship/lower prem standard you are always liable to face the occasional drubbing as these players get found out.

I reckon we were missing arguably our four best players today in faurlin, diakete, traore and taarabt and even helguson could have put a good shift in. Thats almost half our team. Instead we have the likes of derry, hill, buzaky and mackie. I know you cant slate these boys as they have often performed to the best of their ability but they have to play out of their skin to compensate for the shortcomings in their ability as after all this is the toughest league in the world. If we do go down you wont get clubs knocking on the door to keep them in the premiership.

Just think if we had this quality to call upon today and a few of the others spirit was lifted as a result of this there is no way we would have witnessed a shambles like that

Mackie is a brilliant player. He gives his all and is what we want from our players. You cannot criticise Mackie.

      now thats the truth

For us that would mean around 29k."

Hill's been player of season for me. He should be offered a new contract as if we go down, we need players like him. You can't play both derry and buz, they've both lost a yard of pace. They both look better when diakite is in team because he covers so much ground.

Mackie's proved me wrong a few times this season, so will remain quiet. Adel should never ever have been left out of the team though. We create bugger all without him.

didn't mean today meant earlier in season. If we go down it's not because of today.

Well without Mackie the Blackburn defeat would have been more embarrassing and we wouldn't have beaten Liverpool. And we wouldn't have won a lot of matches without him, he gives the team spirit and desire to win imo

I'm sure that even if we'd had Cisse playing regularly, we wouldn't be in this predicament.

Im not criticising them boys, they have all pretty much performed well in relation to the ability they possess. I just dont think they have the technical ability for this league which is why they have to compensate by working their ars*s off. Thats part of the reason that the majority of the time we cant string a decent amount of passes together and make the other team chase the ball.

Its the "premier standard" players who have let us down with their lack of fight. If we go down players like derry, hill (also my player of the season) and mackie can finish the season with their heads held high and players like barton and SWP cant!

At least Barton performed in some games while SWP has never performed in a SINGLE game.

Yeah about three games all season, a rubbish return for the money spent on him!

SWP has to be high up on my list of most disappointing signings during my lifetime.

A terrible shame, should have been so much better.
