How Diakite is the key to QPR’s tactical switch

"The industrious Shaun Derry provided a partial solution, but Rangers still were missing a ‘destroyer’ in the middle of the park. The prime example of the consequences came when Michael Carrick strolled through midfield to score Manchester United’s second at Loftus Road in December.

In Diakite, however, Hughes may just have found the individual to solve the problem - and his improving displays have enabled the manager to make an important tactical switch.

Diakite allows Hughes to play what is effectively a three-man central midfield, supporting a three-man attack. As the better passer of the ball, Barton is suited to playing at the head of that trio, with Diakite and Derry doubling up in a deeper role offering greater protection to the defence...."

Yeah he defends and attacks well with such pace and power down the middle, reminds me of Yaya Toure

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

He is no slouch on the ball either, links up well with Adel on the left side of the pitch and has shown a good range of passing.

he moves away from his marker when breaking forward with electric pace, over the first 5 yards he is hard to stop. I feel if he does that against UTD we could cause them some trouble

                      Agreed.

AS brilliant as he is, I hope Paul Scholes plays simply because his tacking isn't his best and he's now slightly slower than he used to be so he could get unstuck with Diakite's pace off the mark and get himself a couple of yellows....

Scholes can not be allowed to dictate play. Against Blackburn I watched Scholes closely to see if he still has "it" and blimey does he! He makes so much time for himself and others around him. Great player. Might be worth having someone following him everywhere!
