    Vine/Helgusson/Pat A on Saturday

The southampton match was the first pre season friendly I've managed to get to this year.

Have to say I was shocked at how poor Vine, Helguson and Pat were
Was with a non QPR supporting mate who said "you look quality at the back, midfield and in goal, but up front you're very poor".

On the positive side, thought Borrowdale did well, Gorks and Hall were immense, Balanta was great, and the 3rd goal.. well...

Can't believe that the club don't think we need a decent striker. Got to have one of the worst forward lines in the division, certainly for one of the teams supposedly challenging for promotion.

      Agree NW9

I almost feel like going down to HQ and putting a sign up opposite the stadium/in front of the director's offices saying "we need a striker you i****s !"

Don't know about you,but I feel Viney's a bit unhappy at present. His body language suggests he's either unhappy playing out of position or not yet got fully over his horrific injury or perhaps things behind the scenes are not what they should be ?

Vine is not fit and I don't think he will play much in 2009. There is still a problem there and he looks like he is carrying his leg.

Real shame but hopefully he will come back. Needs lots of reserve games and training to build his fitness and confidence. Only my opinion but I too have had a serious injury and can relate to his body language and running style.

Not sure if thats the case. They have tried to sign a striker but have so far failed in their attempts because it appears they dont want to stump up the necessary cash it requires. There's still a month to go of transfer activity though.

Hopefully Vine can get better hope he's not gone the Cook way and lost what he gave the team, Agy and Helg are a lost cause why we ever bought them in is beyond me:shocked:

I have always felt to place the hopes of our season on players coming back from long term injuries is an extremely risky venture.

I hope to god that Vine and Buzacky can reach their potential again and quick. But the question remains what do we do if they can't?

I agree but Vine needs more time and you shouldnt read too much into pre-season, I think one of the main problems with Saturdays game was there was no service for the front players coming from the centre of the park - no through balls for them to run onto. If play comes from the wings were relying on the guys to get their heads to the ball and we all know that all 3 of those players are known for their Furlong esq abilities in the air.

Fairers assesment will be when Buz or the new argie bargie play and give them something to work with.

thats a pretty good assesment - we did seem to be going down the wings alot which doesnt really suit pat or vine does it.

they like balls to the feet or to run onto.

but vine does not look fit - seems to have lot that sharpness and half a yard of pace.

i was beginning to think before the southampton game maybe the strikers we have can do it - but that game told me they cant - ok its only pre season but its clear they are not right.

I'd wait until the competitive matches before making a judgement on Vine -- I think he will be OK this season.
He was OK at the end of last season when he returned for those few games.
                            Have faith in him.
Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########

Vine has been best of the 3, but it was a really bad injury he came back from and he needs matches still. Do have concerns over Helguson and Ageymang
