    Embarrassing advert from QPR

I picked up the Evening Standard as usual on the way home from work and in the sports section at the back is an advert to sell QPR tickets at Man U this weekend stating that we have 800 unsold and they are on general sale

Now my point is not about if anyone wants to go or not or can afford it or who is a better fan and every QPR fan and his dog should be there blah blah but the fact that the club has paid out on advert to sell away tickets in the first place

I can see the stick I will get tomorrow at work let alone the fact that because they are on general sale to anyone we could end up with some Cockney Reds in our section and finally its the sheer embarrassment of the advert in general as I can only guess the club have stumped up for the whole allocation and simply cannot shift them

Most clubs offer a small number on sale or return or the lot for the fee, hence us taking the smaller allocations at most away grounds this season.

The club thought we'd sell 3k easily and we would have but for it being on TV.

Unfortunately an early kick off on Easter Sunday, the game being shown live and quite high price for a match ticket has put a lot off. I'll be there but it's fairly local to me and if i lived down South i know i'd give this one a miss and head to WBA the following Saturday.

Probably due to the fact that most Man U fans are more than likely from London so it would be good idea to advertise in the Evening Standard (London Paper).
Doesn't change the fact though that we could end up with Man U fans in our end (as mentioned by Isle) also the embarassment of unsold tickets.

i dont see it as an embarassment for a club of our size where we are in the league, the early ko on tv and the travel and ticket price. with wba away a week later as well we have done well to sell so many ...

the danger with this is that some mancs from london, who've never been to OT, will buy tickets in our AWAY end...

maybe a lot of fans were put off by Hammersmith R rant the other week saying they were all glory hunters if they went to Old Trafford and not to Bolton

I had one of the club e-mails yesterday saying the same though it seems not well enough if they have to take an advert out in the London paper

                          advert cost £500. selling an extra 100 tickets at £50 = £5,000

I think an advert in a paper such as the Standard would cost much more then £500 and more likely about £5000 as even the locals charge a fortune and because the Standard is free now the advertising revenue has to be fairly high

Looks basically that the club is stumped with them after taking a full allocation and has misjudged the fans finances and the Sunday travel and family issue etc
