He was always going to get shot for this post but he is only stating the obvious.
qprmarc all the players you have mentioned were well established before joining us, so there is a huge difference. Buzz learn't his trade at Plymouth and we have a great end product, Gorkks learnt his trade at blackpool great end product and stewart learn't his trade at Bradford good end product. To sign this italian after watching him against a few non league side IS a HUGE gamble and I don't think anyone can pretend it isn't. I wish the lad all the best but for me it comes across as a panic buy. Why you would give him a 3 years contract means that the board just haven't learn't a thing.
what so everytime we have to go through the middle man, let the player establish themselves and then pay alot more than we would have...
every buy in football is a gamble, have you seen him play? i havent so i cant judge. Give him time, no wonder nobody new and foreign suceeds as all they do is cough and everyone writes them off straight away, great confidence boost!

The point I am trying to make is it takes TIME ffs. We need instant success as managers r sacked left right and centre. This lad hasn't got time and we shouldn't be buying players that are a suprise package. If you sign proven players then you cannot deny it is a much safer option. When you say every signing is a gamble I disagree. U can make calculated risks which our club doesn't realise.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I agree with what you say, but for anyone (not you) to say hes too old at 28 is laughable.

I have no issue's with his age, whoever said he was past it r jokers. He is in his prime at that age.

Yet another example of ridiculous buying strategy. What are these *****s up to??? He is too old, unproven in English football and will be a total waste of time.

This bloke plays in the Itailian 2nd/3rd division. Just for info Di Carmine played in Serie A.

Amazed and distraught. Any one of us lot could do a better job at buying players.

How many of our 'European experiements worked? The grand total of NIL. Ledesma...gone, Parejo....gone, SDC....gone.....

This bloke nad the Argie will follow down the same path and next year we'll all sit on here and say come on give the guy a chance.....
So how much CCC experience has Beckford got exactly...? As for Lita, yes would definitely score goals and i would be happy if we got him, but the baggage that goes with is obviously enough for Reading not to bother with him and let him walk on a free when they need goals to get out of the division also.... you do the math on that one.

Pelicori may be Italian and unproven over here, but you can't compare him with the others as they were all young and unproven full stop. This guy has been round the block, gained massive expereince along the way and for all we know may be a shrewd character and have a blinder. At the end of the day Italian defending is renowned and organised and if he scores goals over there, there's no reason he can't over here. He could be a canny operator and be excellent at finding space, but WE DON'T KNOW YET, so without being tongue in cheek following your last comment, give the guy a chance.

I'm not saying Kingy10 was one but it's amazing how many people wanted Bogdani having only seen him once but don't want Pellicori because "he's too old" or "foreign" or "unproven in the Championship". As qprmarc rightly says if Plymouth or Blackpool hadn't have taken similar risks with Buzsaky and Gorkss we may never have known about them. We might have found ourselves a gem but we might have also missed out on one - lets just wait and see.

                Good luck Alessandro!

He certainly is not too old, but I cannot understand why they bought him.

To win this league, you must have players that know the league and have played and won promotion. Lita ticks all the boxes, we really should go for it this time.

Pompey signed an old Prosinecki at 32 who would definitely be conidered too old on here, and didn't know the division or English football and he ripped the league apart and was their star man by a country mile.....

Of course Pelicori doesn't have the same pedigree, but the point being you can't always assume anyone who's never been in the division will fail or foreigners cannot play here, it's a nonsense.

his record isnt exactly from the top flight but neither is Beckford or Lita , i guarantee his touch and awareness is better than those 2 as well. I do think that Jims comments speak volumes, 'he will take time to settle but.....' thats always manager speak for i dont think hes good enough.

Pete what is the situation with Welbeck?
                                Surely we could loan him.
They have Owen and now the young italian has moved ahead of him in the pecking order.
He would do a job and has good pace.
