But that's the stupid thing about it, it's not the English anthem, it's the UK anthem and represents the sheep shaggers as much as us.
Why it should cause any offense is beyond me. The only reason they slightly disasociate from it, like others, is because they all have their own individual anthems also, something England have never allowed for us. As mentioned above, many would prefer Land of Hope and Glory to ring around the stadium before England matches etc to get the team and crowd going but the FA religiously insist on the National Anthem, which in itself is fine in principle, but to then not play it as such an event as this for such ridiculous reasons makes a mockery of the whole thing and is a farce.!
