No guarantees of course mate, but we are hopeful becasue a very, very good and well established Champions league team in Lyon wanted him and we stole in and got him. Apparently the only reason their deal was halted was becasue they didn't want him to go to ACON but stay to finalise the transfer, he did and that gave us the chance to do the deal.
He will need time, but from what i've seen i am very optimistic as has strength, power, pace, skill etc etc. he could be the new Viera... let's just hope he's not the new Djemba Djemba.Comment

He could go either way, of course if he became half the player Viera was he would still be an improvement for us... i mean come on, Derry's been great and all that, but he is showing signs of someone really struggling with the ongoing pace of the prem and this guy will be an improvement no doubt.
Ask yourself this, how many Champions league teams would be wanting to sign any of our current midfielders....? None bar maybe Faurlin in a year if he'd not got injured.
This guys career and performance level is going up , same as Faurlin, not down like the others. I think he could be as good for us as Cisse will prove to be up top.....

Derry was too far past it to play in 4-4-2 in the Championship let alone in the Prem. I don't mean that as any insult to the man, he'd himself probably be the first to say so.
I worry about Diakite because a player of his type is SORELY needed and as far as I can see all our eggs are in his basket, we really we do need him to hit the ground running. And that's as a young player, in a better league, in a new country. It's a big ask and one that even an experienced pro like Taiwo is struggling with.
On the other hand though, the extremity of the situation is kind of what's giving me hope here. Because if we were looking to fill a hole as big as this then the Diakite deal is so far out of leftfield and risky-seeming given our circumstances that you have to think Hughes has seen something really special in the lad to bother (and bother waiting for him) in the first place.
Basically this will either be an masterstroke or a complete and utter balls-up...Comment
