That Clattenburg are an international referee is a complete joke. He loves the attention. If anyone's watching Newcastle v Aston Villa, that tackle by Warnock on Taylor probably caused a leg-break. Did he recieve a booking? No. Clattenburg could easily just have chosed to book both Cissé and Johnson with no discussion after the game whatsoever. Clattenburg is one of those referee's who when they get the tiniest opportunity to get some headlines, grabs it. He has done it before. What signifies a good referee is when you haven't noticed him throughout the game. Of course this depends on which game it is, but a good referee wears some kind of camouflage and you shouldn't be able to recall his name after the game. So please Clattenburg, retire.

The more I watch the challenge on Cisse and his reaction I really think Clatenburg should have used some common sense. Yes according to the letter of the law he should have been sent off but it was a poor challenge by Johnson and he followed through with his trialling leg. Additionally he only grabbed Johnson in the heat of the moment, think a less attention seeking referee would have maybe shown a yellow to both players.

Cisse deserved to go for what he done and I'm amazed people are looking at ways of justifying what he done, or are questioning the lack of common sense by the ref. I would fine Cisse as much as I could for his stupidity.
