Agree with you that this really isn't a police matter. I just think a man in John Terry's position really should know better and should be held accountable for his actions.

I think we're all in agreement here. The police unfortunately had to deal with this to the letter of the law, especially as it is very high profile.

I'm guessing whoever reported this to the police felt very smug at the time, but is feeling less so now that it's actually delayed the 'swift' punishment that we all wanted to see him receive, ie a long ban, and kicked out of the international setup.

Totally right. We don't want people to make racist comments, but at the end of the day he has said something, that is all. The people that rob and terrorise pensioners would never have got this much government resource spent to bring them to justice.

I'm pretty sure it was a Rangers fan who was in the stands who made this police issue anyway. It certainly wasn't Anton or anyone at the club who got the police involved.

Now, this will really have you hitching up your skirts and shrieking, but here goes anyway, I didn't need you to tell me that Terry wouldn't get a custodial sentence for calling another man nasty names, and to emphasise that, I used the example of a REAL criminal getting off scot free for something a hell of a lot more serious.

I think he was referring to Dazzer's post further up which said he would go inside.... which he won't. He'll get a slap on the wrist at best.

As for Joey, he really should realise that not everyone wants his opinion on all subjects. Obviously there is a lot of controversy around this, and considering it involves a team mate, i think he'd have been better to say nothing at all.

There are plenty of other things in the news he could discuss and get the reaction that he craves...

You were responding to a post about JT getting a custodial sentence, stating it was ridiculous when compared to a banker stealing £1.4m and getting away scot free (what story is that BTW).

If you were saying that a fictional prison sentence for name-calling would be ridiculous, when compared to theft receiving no conviction then I'd agree, but that statement is just a touch redundant isn't it?
