TOTTENHAM manager Harry Redknapp thought Adel Taarabt was 'useless' the last time he saw him - and even now reckons the QPR midfielder has nothing to prove.

Even though the Moroccan international (pic) fired home the only goal of the game that saw Hoops take another giant step back from the relegation mire - Redknapp has no regrets selling Taarabt for a knockdown £1million two seasons ago.

The curling free-kick in the first half did nothing for Spurs' Champions League ambitions, but their manager was unmoved by the notion he lost out on a talent that was under his nose.

He said: "He needed games and he's never worked as hard in his life - so good luck to him.




"But he was useless when he came to White Hart Lane earlier in the season. He's got nothing to prove to me. We had Luka Modric and Gareth Bale and he wasn't going to get in with them around."

Taarabt's current boss refused to dwell on the red card that saw the mercural midfielder become QPR's eighth red card of the season - a Premier League record, but was sure he had got the best out of his player before his untimely departure.

Mark Hughes added: "He broke well and he adapted well to his defensive role that saw him track the runs of (Kyle) Walker.

"Was his red card harsh? Did it require the benefit of the doubt? I'll let others judge that."
