    It is laughable that the "accused" can choose not to attend court..... Even if they manage to avoid him taking the stand, he should be made to attend at least.

              It's only a plea hearing. Rest assured, when it comes to Trial he will be there to give evidence and be cross examined.
              Oh, and he'll also have to be there again for sentencing.
