Did Barton play under Hughes at Man City? Do they have a good relationship or is there history that could cause unrest?

I know Hughes not yet confirmed, but looks like a done deal.

Anyone know of these two's background, could be important going forward - Manager v Captain.

Hughes has a bit of a rep for taking no nonsence....so depends whether JB wants to be an ally or have a power struggle I think.

No, Barton played unger Keegan who in turn to him to Newcastle. One thing about Hughes is that some of the games biggest irritants and a*rseholes (Bellamy, Tevez, Savage) respect him to the hilt as a a manager.
