New players - how much difference will they make?

Obviously, we need far more quality in the side, but my fear is that it wont make much difference who we buy unless the tactics change. When we played 442 vs Man City, there was a dramatic improvement, and I thought Warnock came to his senses - but reverting back to 5 4 1, when you are one of the lowest scorers in the league and losing game after game, does not make any sense.

To me, we have decent enough players to stay up and play good football, but this formation and players out of position will never help us score. On paper, I still believe we are better than Norwich, and Swansea - but our better players are either on the bench, on in the wrong position.

Even if Rooney came in up front on his own, he wouldnt make much difference, the strikers need more support. Continuing with Mackie will never get us anywhere. A decent squad player, but no more.

We have a very exciting attacking side when we want to, with Taraabt, SWP, even JB, DJ and HH - but instead we play 3 defensive style midfielders, with no pace - and a lone striker up front who is in his mid 30s. Its clear to me, that this will not help us score goals.

Will Warnock continue to play these tactics when new players come in? If so, we still wont score goals.

well if we don't sign anyone we go down so obviously new players will make a huge difference.....quite simple really.

My thoughts exactly! If it were my money, i'd be very wary of entrusting it to Warnock after some of the baffling decisions he's been making!

you guys need to stop thinking just cos you spend money on players enough, we can bring some of the best players on the prem if we set up wrong it doesnt matter?

oldschool .firstly welcome to the forum old chap..........me n you read off the same hymn book..........so far warnock has shown diddly squat as a wiley investor of players.........hulse/bothroyd/puncheon/perone/..........hardly set our place alight!!

I think it is a mixture of both too, and without new players - we would go down for sure. But ive seen how well the team is capable of playing, such as Stoke, Wolves, Man City, Newcastle - and im pretty sure in most of these games we played in an attacking way, and our players were played in the correct positions? If we had continued that in other games - maybe we would have more points
