Both Dermot Gallagher and Graham Poll have now questioned the decision. Furthermore, the referees assessor sits just behind the directors box and would have had a few good side-on view of the incident.

It is quite clear that neither the ref or the linesman saw the incident. The game would have been stopped immediately if they had. The only thing that has not been suggested is that the ref may well have received advice in his earpiece from either the other assistant or the 4th official.

Either way, I have yet to hear anyone on the radio/press suggest that the sending off was totally justified. Quite the contrary. The ref I believe is an inexperienced prem ref (was maybe his first game). Evidence clearly does not back up the sending off.

I think the sendin off will be downgraded to booking.

I should add that ref will have been heavily influenced by player falling over, Holt dragging him over to linesman, but more importantly the noisy away support who to be fair played a major part in the decision.

I think we should have swallowed it, in case of the worst.

One of those games would have been the cup one, so not a problem. Wigan at home is winnable without Joey, and Newcastle are on a downer...

I hope I'm proven wrong and we win, but I think they'll keep it against him, and add an extra game.
            Your mum would love me...

At the very least if it is not overturned Johnson should face the same ban as Barton as he done the same as Barton (head to head) and you could argue in the build up more.

So if he was sent off for the intent to headbut the same punishment should apply to the other party. Guessing the FA have the power to pull Johnson for this should they choose

                Tricky.

In defence of the ref he can say there was intent.

In defence of Barton there was no actual violent conduct / headbutt.

He also has mitigating circumstances i.e. the two nasty fouls on him seconds before that went unpunished.

I think the chances of an increase are minimal. There would be an outcry. The people that reassess these incidents have nothing to lose by being honest. They take an independent view on an incident.

They do, however, have a lot to lose by getting it wrong....their job.

I seem to remember couple years ago an Arsenal player getting done for diving a couple of days after the incident surely they should think about the same with johnson?

It wasn't a red card, so yes
                        Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                        And many more mistakes
