    Ferinhand out for two weeks

QPR defender Anton Ferdinand is facing a fortnight of rehabilitation after suffering a hamstring injury, according to manager Neil Warnock.

The centre-back sustained the problem in the second half of his side's defeat at Liverpool on Saturday and had to be substituted.

Warnock estimates Ferdinand is going to require at least 14 days to recover, but the QPR boss hopes Matthew Connolly (ankle) or Fitz Hall (hamstring) could return to provide cover.

"It will probably be a couple of weeks and it opens the door for Matthew Connolly or Fitz Hall, who would be fit next week," said Warnock.

Warnock also calmed fears surrounding the absence of Heidar Helguson at Anfield amid reports the in-form striker was either ill or injured.

The decision had been taken to rest the Icelander, who has scored six goals in his last seven games, and he will return for next Sunday's match against Manchester United at Loftus Road.

"It was squad rotation with Heidar; if he played yesterday there was a risk of him missing two to three weeks," he said.

"It was only a minor thing and if it had been the last game of the season he would have played but he will be all right for next week."

Squad rotation v Liverpool, ffs they were there for the taking Heidar would have grabbed one, if there's a chance of points at Anfield you have to take them.

Disappointing news, but to be honest I don't really expect much from the next 4 games anyway. With or without him QPR will almost certainly lose at home to Man U and away to Arsenal and with Sunderland having a new manager, I expect the players to do the usual and up their game for the first few games to impress O'Neill. And I don't really have much confidence in getting much more than a 0-0 draw at Swansea.

I am awaiting the January wndow with eager anticiaption that QPR will bring in 4 or 5 more quality players and then Warnock will have genuine squad rotation options.

And yes, resting Helguson was a good idea. He can now play against the above hopes and give QPR a realistic chance of scoring a goal, because no one else (other than Luke Young) is looking capable of doing so, although with Campbell fit again, he might chip in with a goal or two against Sunderland.
