    Jonathan Soriano

According to report we are after this Barcelona reserve team striker at first I though god not another reject then I started looking into the lad pretty impressive stats.

I compiled some details on the 1882 site including a You Tube clip and some other stuff for those that want to check it out.

His scoring record at youth level looks pretty good watching the game on Saturday it's so obvious that with the chances we are taking a forward is such a priority.

1882 sources have heard those famous words "done deal" regarding Andy Johnson but for me this lad looks like he has to be worth a punt.

Failing that would any posters be keen for us to push the boat out and get Alex and Anelka?

AJ strongly linked with a move to the team he supports,Sunderland,as for the Bara player,we need the finished article at the moment, wouldn't mind him on a season loan next season if we stay up but for now Johnson would be a better option

For me Anelka would be the main man, I cant see Defoe being let go Harry has had him pretty much his entire career.

Shame about Bellamy we where so close, plus losing DJ just gutting

Thanks funky! i love rumours and this site has been lacking them since pete left (though scott jones did a good job for a while and obviously ric got in trouble which was unfair)

Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million

Just had a little look and he's 26, 56 goals in 74 (I think it was that) think about it. Carroll 35million, Torres 50million, Bent 24million odd, etc etc and this guy would only cost 2million, could be another Jamie Mackie gem here

It is only the Barca B team. Let's not get too excited.

                      He's hardly David Villa.

Just had a quick google search on him and his stats are evry impressive!

                        32 in 69 for Espanyol B side
54 in 74 for Barcelona B side (got 32 last year in 37 games)
                        18 in 15 for Spain u17
                        8 in 4 for Spain u21!

Obviously the latter 2 are a few years back (as he is 26 now) but sounds as though he has alot of ability and certainly knows where the goal is.

Swansea apparently failed in a bid to sing him in the summer due to his wage demands:

Swansea City's hopes of signing Barcelona B striker Jonathan Soriano are dashed over the player's financial demands.

Agreed Benny but they play in the Spanish 2nd tier dont they? So still not too bad a standard (obviously way off PL level mind), and he got 32 goals last year at that level of football.

Stick my neck out and say rather a punt on him than AJ?

Not sure that means too much, mate. I think we've probably got the best standard for second tier football. Not just that, but how many have come over from Spain's top division and not made an impact in ours?

Reyes was meant to be the dogs, but he really struggled. Not saying he won't suceed, but I'm not gonna get a semi-lob on over this one.
